Magicians societies thoughout the world proudly publicise there activites through a periodical of one type or another. These used to be magazines and periodicals, and now in the twent-first centry they are frequently online newletters. This is true of the ASM and the Magic Makers is available to members, emailed each month as an email newsletter. This was not always the case however, read on.
The Magic Mirror
Two years after the inauguration of the ASM in Sydney The Magic Mirror was established. It was the first mgic magazine in the southern hemisphere and edited by Carl Orton Williams. It ran from January 1009 to October 1912. H. F. Cohen revived it again in 1921 but that only lasted a year. It was succeeeded by an independent magazine called The Conjuror.
Magic Makers
The Melbourne ASM introduced Magic Makers in Jan/Feb 1946 with Charles Wicks as the founding editor. Mr. Wicks also created the name.
Magic Makers was a printed publication distributed by mail or in person at meetings. Since 2002 it has been a electronic newsletter distributed by email.
Becauase of its long history the the newsletter provides information and opinions about the magic scene as it has progressed through many generations of magicians in Australia.
