Magicians societies thoughout the world proudly publicise there activites through a periodical of one type or another. These used to be magazines and periodicals, and now in the twent-first centry they are frequently online newletters. This is true of the ASM and the Magic Makers is available to members, emailed each month as an email newsletter. This was not always the case however, read on.
The Magic Mirror
Two years after the inauguration of the ASM in Sydney The Magic Mirror was established. It was the first magic magazine in the southern hemisphere and edited by Carl Orton Williams. It ran from January 1909 to October 1912. H. F. Cohen took over editorship until September 1921. J. Albert Briggs was the final editor until December 1921 and this magazine ended with volume 5 number 8. J. Albert Briggs went on to establish his own independent magazine called The Conjuror in 1922.
The Conjurer
Authored by the final editor The Magic Mirror, J. Albert Briggs, The Conjuror becamse our offical magazine between 1922 and 1939 (with a hiatus between 1927 and 1934.
Magic Makers
The Melbourne ASM introduced Magic Makers in Jan/Feb 1946 with Charles Wicks as the founding editor. Mr. Wicks also created the name.
Magic Makers was a printed publication distributed by mail or in person at meetings. Since 2002 it has been a electronic newsletter distributed by email.
Becauase of its long history the the newsletter provides information and opinions about the magic scene as it has progressed through many generations of magicians in Australia.

Magic Capers
The Port Pirie Assembly #5 in South Australia had a newsletter called Magic Capers. It ran for at least 12 issues between 1957-1959.
